Spring breakfast makeover with Ceres Organics

Yippee, Spring is well and truly here! With the change of season I like changing up our breakfast too. I’m usually an eggs-on-toast-for-brekkie person, but come Spring I like mixing it up with muesli and stewed fruit (currently rhubarb from our garden, mmmm!).

Ceres Organics has recently relaunched their scrumptious muesli range. And now I’m even more of a fan as they have started using home-compostable packaging; a great step towards sustainable packaging solutions! Made out of wood pulp, you can literally put the packaging in your compost and within 12-16 weeks it will have rotted away and be ready to put back into the soil. On top of that, of course, like all other Ceres products, the oats they use are certified organic, so you know they haven’t been grown with any nasty sprays or chemicals.

Bircher muesli is also a favourite at this time of year. I have a couple of delicious, easy bircher muesli recipes that you have to give a go! (you can use either plain oats or a Bircher Muesli mix like the Ceres Organics one). And you needn’t just eat muesli as muesli; use it in place of plain oats in your baking for extra flavour, like in my insanely yummy Caramel Muesli Crumble Slice or in oat-based cookies or a crumble.

As well as being high in fibre (especially insoluble fibre which helps to keep things ‘moving along’ and can lower cholesterol levels), oats are a good source of thiamine, magnesium, zinc and selenium to name a few important nutrients.

Check out the recipes on the right and the Ceres Organics website for more on their delicious muesli range that now comes in compostable packaging.
